Environmental Compliance Evaluations
Our team took on a significant project to manage the environmental compliance of the largest military naval logistics provider on the Oregon Coast. Operating in sensitive ecological zones, their activities – involving marine vessels and heavy machinery near the ocean – were under intense scrutiny. The Group Commander, along with his shareholders, faced immense pressure to avoid any environmental missteps. With the EPA closely monitoring their operations, the risk of incurring substantial fines and penalties was high. This backdrop underscored the critical nature of our project.
The EPA mandated that each remote logistics unit undergo an annual Environmental Compliance Evaluation. This comprehensive inspection encompassed various aspects, including group training and knowledge, hazardous materials management and storage, hazardous waste disposal, air quality management, renewable energy programs, fueling procedures, spill protection plans, and records management. The breadth and depth of these requirements called for a detailed approach.
Our team dived deep into every facet of the group's operations. This intensive process, while time-consuming, was essential to ensure comprehensive compliance. We conducted detailed assessments, identifying areas that required immediate attention and improvement. Moreover, we played a pivotal role in securing funding for critical enhancements.
Through our guidance, the group leaders significantly strengthened their environmental safety programs. Our efforts led to a 3-year commitment, during which we were instrumental in enabling each of the 13 remote units to achieve outstanding results in their evaluations, with scores of at least 99% each year. This achievement demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship and ensured their operations remained compliant and sustainable.
